Tiny Styrofoam balls in Ranger 20 cabin

A lot of rainwater got into my cabin and then I moved my boat by trailer. When I went out to look at it today, millions of tiny styrofoam balls had washed up from the aft bilge area. I assume this was some kind of horribly misconceived floatation effort by the designer or former owner. Should I have to add more floatation somehow, now that I have vacuumed the styrofoam balls out out? Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

We have a lot of 'members', but I don't recall a Ranger owner here.

I owned several Ranger 20's. The positive floatation was in blocks under the cockpit seats and also under the forepeak. I owned #182, # 456 and #500, and was active in the national association for a number of years. I was not aware of small foam pellets or balls being used, but they certainly could have been. Is the tabbing still in place between the center of the boat and the forepeak?

What year is your boat and what's the hull number?

I do know, from observation, that your boat should float upright and level even when full of water. Not my boat, but from observing another one filled up by a couple of guys. Alcohol was involved.

As it always is in research. I'm sure they were trying to measure the prismatic co-efficient, or something. PH? Density? Solar weight? Sunspot potential energy ...
