The 260 is on the (very) short list for my next boat. The anchor system is important to me because we anchor at least once every time we sail. I've seen some photos of what appear to be 260s with a very nice bow roller and anchor set up, but many have nothing (or nothing showing). Was this an option? With ease of anchoring a priority, what should I look for when I'm shopping around for 260s? Is this something that can be easily upgraded? (Yes, I know "easily" is subjective.)

I think the bow roller is after market but there have been some very nice mods profiled on the owner's resource page

If you look at the 26 page the first few mods that show up are anchor rollers.

This should help you with the "subjective" assessment.;)

The H260 was designed to better facilitate an anchor roller than the H26, and a roller was even offered as a factory option on the H260, I believe. So don’t look at the H26 anchor roller mods if you’re getting a H260.

BTW: I don't have the roller on mine... what I do have is the heavy danford in the front locker and a second anchor in this stern "pipe". The line leads forward to the bow eye so all I do when entering a cove is toss it off the back and drag it until in bites. The tube holds 10' of chain in the bottom. There is a cap with a weep hole at the bottom of the cap. You can see my anchor rode coiled up on the fishing rod holder in the second photo.

I deploy my anchor without ever leaving the cockpit and it only takes a minute to lay out the rode and be ready to toss the anchor. If I'm staying the night, I usually set my second anchor in a V-pattern from the first anchor.

To retrieve the anchor I use the winches on the coach roof.

where the bow roller goes, sandwitched between the fiberglass is an aluminum plate that you can drill and tap easily. Hope that resolved the issue

I bought the bow roller about a year ago. Trying to get the time to install it. Note that there are no instructions with it when I ordered it from here. I recall seeing detailed instruction on here though. Drill holes to certain depth/size. Tap them. Seal and bolt down.

We do anchor every time we go out as well, kids need to swim so... It's not that bad deploying it from the locker.

My 270 came with it. However, too small to really do the job. The nylon roller was broken off, BUT, that allows me to keep the anchor sideways in the roller at all times. very easy to deploy and retrieve. I like the idea of keeping it set up on the stern rail, will give it a shot. alan
