picked this up for $800. I've already gutted it and started repairs. Anyone familiar with these boats? Any issues to look for other than normal rot and wear and tear?

One wry observation: at that price, you got a real good deal on a trailer and they threw in a free boat!
Scrape off the remnants of the old head liner and go sailing. Is there a useable outboard motor on a bracket for an auxiliary? If you do not sail at night, you can get by without the mess-of-wires DC system for a while.

Good point... skipping the deep cycle battery/wiring/charging situation would decrease the headache factor by several levels....you could stash these in a box just in case you got caught out after dark....
and if you want lights in the cabin....
