Raymarine Compatible Audio Head Units

Hey guys - I recently bought a boat that has this multifunction display (Raymarine Axiom 7) Axiom 7 - 7 Inch Touchscreen Multifunction Displays | Marine Electronics by Raymarine

I understand that this unit can control various audio systems, but it has been really confusing finding which head units for audio are compatible as many sites don't list NMEA2000 compatibility even on units that don't have it.

Does anyone have advice for a system? I'm looking for something very basic, compact, and low cost to control 2-4 speakers. Don't need a lot of features - just want to be able to control the audio from my multifunction display. Of course, if there are significant benefits to a "Step up" unit I'm OK with that too.

Also - if you have any other add-ons you've used with this system (wind meter, depth sounders, etc.) that you've liked feel free to mention any favorites.

Thanks for the help!

We have a Polyplanar MRD87i - MRD87i IPX6 Marine Radio - Polyplanar LLC.. It claims NMEA2000 compatibility, but our B&G plotter can’t control it. Seems the B&G plotters only control specific devices like the Fusion that jviss mentioned, not generic NMEA 2000 head units. I don’t know if Raymarine is more flexible about that. The other specs are pretty much what you’re looking for.

Catalina 270 255 Wabamun. Welcome to the marina
Ray is no more flexible. There are really only certain Fusion units, the Ray support page is the best resource as to what works with what

Hi everyone - I just wanted to update everyone as I continue this search. A lot of the Raymarine website is seemingly out of date as several recommended units I found were discontinued.

That said, according to Crutchfield, the Fusion MS-R70NSX is compatible. I also reached out to Rockford Fosgate and they told me that their two models that worked are the PMX-5 and the PMX8BB.

I'm probably going to wait a bit to purchase as I want to decipher the wiring work the previous owner of my boat did. If others have recommendations that they know work with Raymarine feel free to continue to populate this thread. Thanks!
