My wife messengered with her half-sister there yesterday. It is still closed for tourism. Supplies are very hard to come by all over, but especially for Cuban citizens' personal use. The scuttlebutt is that the government is rushing to reopen airports as soon as possible since tourism income for the government crashed. Needless to say, besides the necessary permissions, it may not be a great time to go.

CPB finally approved my Global Entry application "conditionally subject to interview" EIGHT months after the $100 application fee posted to my credit card...and then closed all the interview locations due to the virus.

Because of the surge in the Covid-19, US residents are not welcome in many countries and subject to quarantine in many others.

Well we're still driving to Texas next month even though it's a "who!e 'nother country".:wink3:
So true. I was in Fort Worth on business, staying at the Fairmont. For dinner I ordered bbq ribs and a Sam Adams. It took a long time to get the beer. Waiter said it was in the import section and asked me where it was imported from. When I said Boston it didn’t really seem to register with him that that was not another country.

I was in Cuba in 2016 and it was amazing. Unfortunately, with the Covid pandemic raging, and the US being the current epicenter, you can forget about going there or pretty much anywhere else in the world this year and possibly well into next year. A visa is required for US citizens to enter Cuba even in normal times.

That's sad. Most times the waiting staff are college students. I hope that wasn't the case.

Maybe not so strange ... I saw beyond Jen on the Weather Channel this morning and actually saw the display behind her. I never knew there is a "London", KY. I'm sure there are many such foreign cities right here here in the good 'ol U.S.A., God Bless Her .!

Check out Jay Leno's youtube where he asks people questions about geography and simple sience and history questions. It will make you wonder about our education system. And make you laugh.

Fortunately, I renewed my passport last December with a quick turn around time.

My Nexus Card (similar to Global Entry) expires next spring, unfortunately the CEO has decreed that residents of NY are no longer eligible for NEXUS cards.

Sanity prevails in the Court system and there remain. This just in, New Yorkers can participate in the Trusted Traveler Program.

Well here's the scoop, the old fashion way. Once you get to to Hemingway, you're issue at the cost of $25 a month a "célula de turismo" a tourist pass. So they don't stamp your passport. You go thru Mexico if flying, or thru Bahamas if boating.
