Looking at a 1994 Hunter online. Did model come with pelican gates port and starboard for boarding or must they be added?

Add whatever it is you need for your use. When my B323 was brand new, it had double opening LL on each side of the cockpit. Good for when rafting stern-to in a circle, but for a linear raft I am in the process of adding gates (maybe just the uppers) on both beams. Also, when new, I needed opening LL on the bow for my finger piers. Thusly, I added 4 more up front, but they detach so as to not foul the jib when flown.

Thanks for confirming what I thought would be required--add what you need. On my previous "older" sailboats, they were present abeam S/P sides, full opening top and btm LLs. From the online pics of this Hunter, it looked to me that there were none that come stock with the boat. So I will need to get the stanchions and attachments to set them up for boarding from docks (us and our dog). Now to price Hunter stanchions for the year/model, since they are geometry-specific, I do believe.

Are you sure the '94 doesn't come with them? I can't imagine they would discontinue them on the same model. The hook loops are welded to the railing so they would have to offer both. Where have you seen one without them?

I am not sure about what was stock and what owners had to add themselves. I was aboard a 1988 model under a winter tarp and did not see access gates mid-ships. I was expecting to see two stanchions spaced apart about 30 inches or so apart mid-ships (as was the case on previous boats I owned--Newport, Irwin, O'Day, Ta Shing Baba, Cheoy Lee). When I later asked the owner if the boat had them, he said they were present. Maybe they were there and I just did not see them since I was crouched down under the tarp and the light was not very good that December day in Maine. If your model has them, where are they located?

Here is a picture of a Hunter 1994 30. I see none on this boat, unless the access gate is positioned just forward of the cockpit in vicinity of the dock step.

The '88 was a different model altogether. The 30T started in '91. It's hard to tell in the picture, but I doubt it is different from my '91. The pelican hooks on mine clip on to two loops on the stern rail port and stbd. For the admiral, they are too far back because our slip finger isn't long enough for her to reach them.
I'm including a picture just before we bought her. The P.O. was able to back into his slip. Very handy!

Thanks for the photo and explanation. I believe you are correct and that the '94 I am interested in is setup like your '91. Appreciate the response. Now all I have to do is practice backing into the slip if the finger is a short one :) Rgds
