raising the mast

I have a Catalina 22. When raising the mast i want to tie two lines on the mast down to the stanchion one on port side one on starboard . My question is how high up the mast should i tie off the lines

Have you considered attaching the shrouds to the chainplates before raising the mast?
We did this with somewhat smaller boats. The mast couldn’t go side to side much, and one person could start raising the mast from the stern and a second pulling on the forestay. The person at the stern then begins to guide the mast base to the step. You can either leave the backstay detached or open up the the turnbuckle and attach it beforehand leaving enough slack to get the base of the mast onto its step. Then attach the forestay.
