I'm not sure if these guys are trying to find a way home or just looking for adventure. Probably a bit of both.
I don't like their chances for success but I do like the attitude.
Comments like "They hope to be ready to leave in about a month aiming for the Panama Canal option, all going well. " make me think they really need someone who understands ocean navigation. They are worried about piracy in the Gulf of Aden, which is a reasonable concern, but thinking sailing up wind to Panama was a better option than rounding the Cape of Good Hope leads me to believe they need a little guidance.
They have however thought through some of the more important aspects "In any case, they are going to stock up on canned food and rum because: “beer takes up a lot of room” "
