I purchased the new vhf a year ago. Got around to installing the RAM today.
Me too.....I'm always afraid when it comes to putting new holes in my boat.
Looks like you did a good job!
That was a chore and the blood on my arm proves it.Kudos! Very professionally done. How did you route the internal wiring?
My vhf also has AISI'm with Ken. The Ram is very handy - I use it all the time. Since I've got AIS rx on my radio - it also shows up on the Ram - which is fantastic as my typical "go below and peek at the chartplotter" timeframe is a little too long to catch boats going 30+ kts. So I peek at the AIS display (5 mi, usually) on the Ram every min or so to be aware of when I'm going to be run over by the express.
. All I needed to do was mount the connector and pull the other end out of the wall and connect it to the VHF. It was even the right brand of cable. /QUOTE]

I have the same set up except in white. It is one of the best boat mods I did. Where I sail the AIS is invaluable. It lets you know when the big boys are coming and how much time you have to get out of the way before you get smashed to smithereens. It is the standard horizon GX 2200
