i am sailing with this big genoa, i cannot go at close reach but my speed is good, still i cannot beat some beneteau oceanis 40 going upwind. any suggestions?

try reefing down to about 110% and barber haul the sheet to pull the clew inboard.... which means you will decrease your "tack angle"(which is the angle created by the boat's centerline and a line from tack to lead block). I also notice your mainsail has no roach or battens.... must be roller furling..... therefore, you're getting nothing from the main. How is the balance? Does that big headsail pull the bow downwind when you're sheeted in? I agree with Dave that that sail is too big for close hauling..... What would be ideal is a full roach main with a 110 blade with lead block on an inside track.
What do you mean here? Our boat came standard with a 150 genoa and have no trouble getting to close hauled, even up to about 28-30 degrees.
Love that sail. I keep considering putting a second furler on my 41AC to support a huge down wind sail, while keeping the small jib for up wind work. A short sprint on the anchor roller could work well.
First of all "close reach" means slightly off of close hauled. I think you mean close hauled as in as close to the wind as you can go. I do not know anything about the Oceanis 40 but some boats sail closer than others and there's not much you can do about it. As for making your boat sail close there are a number of factors besides the size of the sail.

Terry Cox if it is past the spreaders so were you pull the genoa sheet ? the deck track in my boat is inside the rigging you cannot pull the genoa close to the spreaders do you ?
Our boat is set up with the genoa track inline with the standing rigging. When I trim the genoa sheet close hauled, the sheet and genoa clew are outside the standing rigging and sail cloth very close to and in some cases touching the standing rigging when trimmed in tight. I have a long piece of plastic water pipe mounted on the rigging to help prevent chafe. The sheet cheek turning block that allows this is located well aft. Our boat can pinch to about 24 degrees before she starts to lose power. If I see a strong puff approaching, I will pinch even lower to minimize the puff effect and then ease after it has passed.
Understand. Wrote an article about the shroud guard that I made out of PVC pipe. Works out very well and as you can see the genoa sheets on our boat are outside the standing rigging here: Hunter 42 Owner Modifications and Upgrades
on hunter 41 the genoa will fly between the 2 shroud so it cannot be bigger than that because it will hit the spreader, so it will never touch the shroud. i hope i can explain myself.
