Joe was right: J Racer Is the Winner! It is a Ranger 22! (according to the sails, anyway!) So, I had to put a pair of tires on the trailer, fold the circus tent quality tarp and drive 3 miles to a coin-op with enough head room and 24 quarters... Then to a more friendly "hard slip." The compliment of sails includes a super crisp main that was folded on the boom, wrapped in a boom cover, a 125 Genoa (like new!), a 155 Genoa (big "see through" panel) and a massive spinnaker, in a bag, properly stowed, ready to deploy!
The rigging looks good, although as it was One Hundred and Hell degrees, we didn't step the mast. The hull looks very sound, with no soft or 'glass pattern showing. There are some surface cracks around the top passageway slide. No soft or spongy spots. Them mast step area looks/feels solid. There was about 2 inches of water in the bilge, but it was clean, so I figured it was from the car wash. I didn't locate any drains and the only through hull was the speedo, which when spun by hand, registered 12 knots. (Not sure if I actually spun it that fast, as my speedo spinning hand action isn't fully calibrated... you know.. sure, I feel very amateurish about that but my Cat doesn't have one, so, ....) A bilge pump was observed in the very aft of the very aft, but no battery on board, so it went untried.
The trailer has hydraulic brakes, which I am pretty sure are in need of full replacement, but is very sound in other important ways... bearings nice and full of
"fresh" grease, and pulled straight as a figurative string. I killed about 7 Black Widows on the trailer, but found none in the boat itself. The cushions look original but are not musty - just dusty...
The keel plate shows no rust or damage from inside, but there is a tell-tale line on the keel/hull line that shows a bit of stress. The traveler, Cunningham, out/down hauls and wire halyards look to be in fine shape, but I will check the sheaves for chips or other defects. The sheets are like new, and a 6 HP Evenrude long shaft with rotten fuel line but no tank. All in all, I am into it $192 (186 for two tires, 6 bucks for the coin-op). Will crawl through it much closer before testing its' desire to float. Thanks for your guesses, comments, and hopes.
