Check your owners Manual or here if you don't have it..I was hoping I could do this so that the a/c could continue running. But wanted to make sure first.
My Freedom 20 I/C has automatic transfer switching built it. That prevents Generator from back charging Shore power.Battery chargers are supposed to have protection built in
@pumpkinpieI did a quick look and the Starter Battery and 120VAC system are separated.
Shore power is 120/250 v. and is not wired directly to an engine which is generally 12v. My first reaction to the question is to study the basic electrical systems on a boat, particularly those with both 12v and 120v. This knowledge will save you time and money. Not having this information at the dock is not nearly as important as not having it away from the dock.Do I need to disconnect shore power to start engine and or am I good to go with shore power being on? I just wanted to warm engine up and take a look at something while the engine is idling.
