Hi All,

Cleaned out the water tanks (to the best of my ability) and found these pieces of ??? In the tank. I have not refilled them yet. Was going to add a bit of chlorine to a gallon or two to slush around for a week before emptying and filling again. Should I be concerned that the tanks will now leak? Any idea if this is important to the structure of the tank? Thanks all!

Poly tanks? Looks like that might be stuff left in the mold (forming mold, not the growy kind) at manufacture..

Thanks. I’m also putting a call out to Beneteau. I meant to say bleach, not Chlorine.

Looks like debri left over from the manufacturing process. Let us know if Benetau says other than they purchase the tanks from a third party and "it happens".

Use one cup bleach per 10 gallons. Run it through each faucet until you smell it coming out. Let sit 8 hours but not more than 24 hours. Especially if you have metal tanks. The stuff is corrosive. Then empty the system. Fill, empty, then fill again.
Done.

Spoke to Beneteau this morning. On the 440 the bottom and sides of the water tanks are molded into the hull with a recess for the tops of the tanks to be affixed. They affix with a large amount of adhesive. Over time the overage that oozes our from installation may come loose but should not affect the tank’s integrity. Problem solved.
