Main Sail What type?

I took a couple pictures of the main sail on the boat that I'm in the process of purchasing I don't think this is the original main sail that comes with the 41 Hunter DS.

Can someone tell me what type of sail this is and does everything look normal with the sail itself? I wasn't sure if this main sail is a racing sail?

Would like to see a picture from farther out to get a sense of the boat' position as it relates to the shape of the sail. Sorry, cannot appreciate one way or the other from those two.

No battens? Is it a roller furling sail, is there an insignia, is the mast or boom set up for furling? How does the luff attach to the mast? Move back and try to get the entire sail in the picture.

These are the sails that are coming with the 41ft Hunter DS... I wished I'd taken more photos but this is a 5 hour, 1 way drive to retake ;) I always thought that there would be weights on the sails. Please bare with me it's been 20 plus years since I've sailed.

Sails
Seldon Anodized B&R Rig
In-mast Furling Main Sail
Spare Main sail
Roller Furling Genoa, 110%
Spare 110% Genoa, never used
Cruising Spinnaker with sock

What's your sailing experience? For in-mast furling, everything looks good. Maybe a little old and stretched out, but I'm not experienced with new sail technology, nor with in-mast furled sails. The limp look may be normal. How old are your sails? And what do you mean by weights on the sails? That is also something I don't know about.

It's not a racing sail. I think it looks baggy but that could be the trim. Why is the foot out so far from the boom? Was there a problem tensioning the outhaul line? Bagginess would affect the in-mast furling performance i.e. make it more difficult.

I love this feature on our boat.
You don't have many options to change it's shape or design, but you can change the materials.

Why?
The main must roll up and fit inside your mast.
The cut of the sail must remain the same.
It you have no problems with furling or unfurling the main, stick with the design.;)

BTW your main sail looks in excellent shape.

The sail given its shiny appearance it is in great shape and is likely to be a cruising dacron, possibly super cruising dacron, as for weight impossible to tell, there appears to be no vertical battens which would improve sail performance and if done correctly will not interfere with furling. As for the trim it appears that the outhaul / clew was not pulled back to the reference mark on the boom. If the clew as at the mark then the sails foot is too long and would need to be adjusted (something a sail loft could do).

I looked up some listing pic from the OP and it looks like a Doyle Sail logo on the clew. I'm guessing this is what came with this boat originally, can anyone confirm?

Doyle sails were the offering for this vessel, I believe that vertical battens was optional, given the OP states that he has a spare Main and Gib I have to assume (I know a dangerous word) that the owner has replaced the sails, hard to say with what though ergo the question I am sure.

This is our in-mast furling New Main Sail.
Note the wrinkles. We have a Leach tensioner, on our main, but we never have found it to do much for the speed of the boat.
Most wrinkles are storage wrinkles and after a few times use, disappear.:)
Plus we considered flexible and curve battens, but the extra expense was not worth any gains in speed.
