My stern name was removed last week and the faded side name from the first owner was buffed out also. The only thing left is the wood cutting board with the name engraved to be removed. I never leave the papers or records on the boat, as they are all self contained in a backpack that I carry to the boat each time so I don't think I have to go through all the entries and mark out the name, any thoughts? Oh and she has been washed and detailed and should be finished this week. Still working on new name, but should have one in a few weeks to put on her.

The purpose of the "Practical Renaming Ceremony" is to eliminate the need to expunge old records by getting Poseidon to mark the old boat as "lost" in his ledger and the new name is now a whole new boat. The ceremony contains no actions that most new owners wouldn't already be taking regardless of their beliefs or superstitions around naming a boat. The beverage is just a necessary part of becoming a new sailboat owner.
