6/4 isn't all that tough, it's related to a jazz waltz at 6/8. 13/8 would be as tough for me as 11/4 or 11/8.

I will usually write songs in multiple time signatures. Not unusual for me to have 3/4, 4/4, and 5/4 in the same song. Plus, I might add 2/2 for the fun of it. LOL

Morello was the best in many ways. As a jazz drummer, Take 5 was/is my favorite. Desmond (who wrote it) was perfection.

(Last time I played it was at a jazz club in France 2 yrs. ago, only because the band's drummer (who was pretty good otherwise) couldn't deal with 5/4 time after we requested it...so he asked me to sit in, bucket list item checked off there...)

Hands doing one beat. The foot doing a different beat.

Like rubbing your tummy and patting your head while trying to flirt with the girl in the red dress dancing at the edge of the stage.

not trying to turn this into a drum forum, but that first Morello post hit my hot button!

Joe had it going on till he passed, true master of the Moeller technique and so melodic, here's a good one from 1995 on Conan....forgive the dropped stick, he played thru it, and was damn near blind in doing so and most of his playing days...and a wonderful guy not full of himself, (much like Krupa and Bellson in that regard)....enjoy...

Yup, four limb independence....guess that's why most of the gals like drummers!
