Mantus Anchor Storage

So I bought a new mantus anchor, which I am pretty sure won't fit in the anchor locker assembled. I really don't want to reassemble it every time I want to use it, as it will be our primary anchor. We keep the boat on a mooring, so I don't want to leave it hanging off the bow roller when we are not sailing (actually not sure how it's going to fit on the bow roller, but that's another issue). Does anyone have any creative ways of storing one when not sailing. I'm thinking of suspending it from a couple of carabiner's between the top rail just inside the jib roller. Then it would be easy to through onto the bow roller when we head out. Thoughts?

@Fly By Night Congrats on your new anchor.
I know it is not a Catalina, but it might help. Attached find images of my boat with the Mantus Anchor on the bow roller with anchor brace.

Some folk have removed their anchor from the bow-roller and lashed it to the foredeck in a set of wooden braces attached to the foredeck. Others have attached their anchor to the Bow Pulpit. Still others have located their anchor in the cabin and lashed it to the floor when at sea and a big gale is expected. All of this depends on you and how you want to operate your boat.

yes, I've seen it. I don't want the large bracket mounted up there while sailing, and am not real eager to spend another $250 for a bracket

Try fitting it on the bow roller. You might have to extend the bail a bit to fit the taller shank of the new anchor. Once the anchor is pulled in tight and the rhode is secured, the anchor can't go anywhere. We have sailed ours for a couple of years, with green water over the bow sometimes, with no issues. Ideally, your primary anchor should be ready for immediate deployment in case of an emergency.

That is the plan, but I don't want to keep it on the roller when on the mooring.
We moor often with our Mantus in place on the roller. We either use one bow chock for the mooring pendant, or use a bridle to use both chocks.

Do you have the small standard bow roller on your boat? How well does it handle the anchor? I've been reading and have seen evidence of anchors cutting through mooring lines. So I don't plan on leaving it there except when sailing.

IMG_2405.jpg Our bow roller is standard for the C310. It handles the anchor very well. No problems with mooring lines. That's our old Delta mounted on the pulpit.

“Fly” I would think that if you use a bridle instead of a single line to the mooring ball that you would have no problem.
Until you tie up and try it I suspect it is all conjecture. Pretty sure once you test the rigging the correct answer for you will be evident.

That’s the reason for the forum. I am learning stuff all the time. Sometimes it is stuff I forgot...
Oh well.
