Probably Last Sail of the Season

Had a great day of weather today, Halloween, so we took a half day and headed out on the lake. Haul out is November 10th.

And our first should come just about the same date; Trinidad to Carriacou. Funny how things work that way.

With the wind and weather being just awful, we finally have made progress into the Chesapeake along with dozens of cruisers. I feel bad for some of the sailors that we pass along the way because they look so cold, but they have big smiles because they know the reward.

Sadly my last sail of the season was last season. Normally I try to get 1 last one in in October, but it just didn't happen this year.

Surrendered the boat today. Beautiful day. Water clarity better than all season. It was beautiful. Why the rules to put the boat up by Nov. 1? There's no serious freeze threat until another month, if then. One of the best days in 6 weeks - it's a shame.

I was planning on sailing on BlueJ at the same time, but got caught at work and could not get to WYC until 3pm. Seeker was already back, so we chatted for a minute and I cast off while they left. Was a solid 12-15 knots. Upwind for 90 minutes and then a spin run home. Awesome day.

Our marina lets us stay as late as the end of Nov. I was supposed to be hauled out this week but on Sunday I couldn't get into the pump out dock due to a blow out tide so I postponed until next week.
Glad I did.
