Heya all. I know a few of you have been following along with my saga and i have a sizable update for you.

the boat looked a lot like this begining of last week...

we ground the bottom down to gel or fiberglass or iron accordingly

faired in the keel and painted a few coats of interlux 2000e on it just to be certain

put on the vc17m extra

put on our big boy pants and lifted it into the air the pulled a trailer under it

drove for 4 hours to get 90 miles...

slung it and tested for leaks

admiring handy work

thats us. :p

keeping her busy while waiting for a crane

voila.

... wow. i genuinely can't believe it got this far. thank you.

the yard feels empty...

but somehow i think i can be ok with that.

So again. thank you to the forums here for being with me along the way. you guys and gals are invaluable.

i got a pile of projects ahead of me but there's something truly rewarding about the notion that if i wanted to, and it wasn't dark out, i could get the motor going on it (already done) and get out there and let the wind take me somewhere. but first i gotta install my electrical and n2k network, test the lights, make a galley step up to the cockpit cause its a long long way down, put the life lines back up on it, buy a lifesling throwable so the uscg doesn't warblegarble me and THEN... then its time to go sailing.

Congratulations! It's been a lot of work and learning.

Looking at the To Do list only 2 items are holding you back, that step into the galley and USCG safety equipment.
Nothing on the rest of the list should keep you from sailing.

Time to sit back and have a .

Wonderful! Fair winds and following seas with her. The P-26 is a great boat. Way back in the day I sailed on one as crew a number of times in Narragansett Bay. Strong in a breeze and points high with decent sails.

i'm sure i'll have questions as i start to dial in the running rigging and get things around. i'm just beside myself happy that the mast is up and it all looks good so far.

Congrats. The Splash and no leaks is such a great feeling.
Keep sharing your first sail.
