Plenty of ventilation, plenty of Damp Rid, washing down any mildew on walls, overhead, etc. Emptying holding thank and garbage often!

Keep the dog away from the boat. Their hair stinks and attracts other elements that stink.

The dorade s are always open except when we are expecting sub 40’s.

If used a lot ozone generators can harden rubber gasgets.

I owned a clothing fire restoration business for several years and effectively used ozone generators to remove the smoke smell. Then the garments were cleaned. In almost all instances it removed the odor. However, I would never spend any significant time in a room with an ozone generator running. Ozone generators can be effective at removing odors, but as Peggy the "Headmistress" says first you must eliminate the source of the odor!

Four 4" cowl vents, three on dorade boxes keep our old boat smelling fresh. They work 24/7 moving a huge amount of air through the boat while it sits on a mooring.

We had an inch of rain fall over the weekend in sweltering heat (Maine sweltering,...). They kept the air moving in the boat and the rain out. A great old invention.

Yes, Peggy is the man (sorry, Peggy). I replaced all the sanitation hoses with he best Trident, use Odorlos after each emptying. Vent the boat with a small solar powered fan and louvered (cut into them) the acrylic main hatch door. Shut fuel petcock may solve your Diesel odor but check your vent line and thru-hull for blockage. I have a slip so run a drum type dehumidifier 24/7 also. All of this gives me zero odor. Not like a forest, just like plain old fresh air.

Most smells are the result of problems. Eliminate the problem, don't mask the odor.

Good air circulation takes care of the rest.
