Yep, the crazies are out in full force. On my way to work at 0500 hours this morning I95 was already starting to get very busy heading south from Northern VA. Saw one guy pulling a powerboat like his butt was on fire and his head was catching fire. Hope he drives the boat better than his car, but I doubt it.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Anyone have any good plans?

I have to work! Ugh. At least it is day shift.

Look at the bright side, it'll be raining. Me, I took two weeks off starting in a half hour to cruise Chessie and there's nothing in the forecast but...rain...

Bummed is not the word. Stay safe.

Looks like decent weather here in Seattle. Heading to the boat soon. We'll have to wait for the bridges (2) to open at 6 pm after traffic. Then through to the locks and out to Puget Sound. Heading over to N. end of Bainbridge Island for the night then tomorrow and rest of weekend in Gig Harbor near Tacoma. Will try to time the tides for a push and hope we get a bit o' wind but the forecast is touting light stuff.

Every year I set Memorial Day as the launch day. This year I actually got the boat launched in time for the weekend! Now we have a place to sleep after the Marina Crawl tomorrow night. :):beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

I thought that view looked familiar! Anxious to get up there tomorrow myself. I might find myself out on the water overnight though, and might miss the festivities. Either way, safe Holiday (or weekend) to all!

It appears to be a trend. The boat in the background is in the process of trying out the new mastless sailing method too. He doesn't look as committed to the idea as Dave is, though. Still carrying the mast as a crutch.

So, here's the real story.

We wanted to have the boat in the water by Memorial Day (a record early launch for us). Went to the boat on Monday before Memorial and found the yard manager standing in front of the crane with the winch lying in pieces on the ground. The back up was acting up a bit and neither the yard manager nor I wanted to hang my 400 lb + mast on that winch. So the boat went in the water sans mast.

The new winch was installed later that week, but, my mast wasn't quite ready. The new B & G wind instruments did not fit on the mast head. So, I've been engineering a mounting bracket.

Now I'm off to do some volcano gazing, so the mast will go up after the bracket is installed and I get back.

we did get out for the weekend. Unfortunately due to my back acting up we actually only got in a 3 hour sail.
The rest of the time was spent in our slip (like the dock queens I usually make fun of :sosad:)

People on the water were much better behaved than I thought they were going to be... at night in the marina was a completely different story.
