We are enjoying a winter morning on the water in Friday Harbor.
I saw photos of one of the tankers that floated up to a nieghbors pier. I tink cranes plucked them out and set them down in the riverbanks.

We got hit pretty hard with 90+ mph gust reported on the Cape. Glad we went skiing, we've been without power since 7pm Friday.

a 60' pine tree came within inches of by boat. It brazed the boat stands. I feel lucky it just my power that is out.

Bob, that is frightful. Trees falls caused a lot of damage and some injuries (deaths). Thing with trees is that they grow strong and adapt to prevailing westerlies and when high winds clock east their roots can't hold them. White pines are some of the worst, shallow roots:
Having lived on the water (a large lake) I found it to be a lot fun, until it's not. Don't miss it now.
We also keep just a few in case of bad weather.
If there are any varieties you wonder would be good wines, let me know, I'll see what we have. Cranberry? Rhubarb? Mango?...

USCG is reporting that a Maersk commericial container carrier managed to lose more than 70 containers off North Carolina during the storm. A dozen or so have been sighted off Ocracoke. Guess they took a real shellacking out in the Graveyard. Careful returning snowbirds.
One of the lost containers is full of sulfuric acid

Now all we need is for the Coast Guard to do their job and order Maersk to recover their containers.
