Today I talked the wife into taking a break from getting the house ready to rent. We are planning on moving onto the boat and cruising in April. We took the boat out for a sail. The conditions were great the wind was 10-17 knots out of the south. This will be the first time taking her out since I installed the radar. Since we have never used radar before we didn’t know what to expect. We turned the radar on and realized everything was 180 degrees off. I realized it was setup for being installed forward facing and I installed it on the back stay facing aft. Quick fix in the setup in the chart plotter. The wife was at the helm when she realized that the radar was picking up a pod of 12 dolphins. What is the smallest object that your radar has picked up?

Recently, on Maui, the Coast Guard radar picked up the kayak of a woman who had gone missing in a storm. It was after midnight, and the CG helicopter dropped a swimmer into the water, and he helped her to shore. She had lost her paddle, and was swimming, towing her kayak. The CG said it was smart of her to stay with the kayak, or they might have missed her.
