I purchased a new set of sails for my Hunter 31 and wish to sell older sails. Was curious about best method of shipping sails to new owner when time comes. any thoughts?

Also check the Post Office. I've found their rates to be lower than UPS for individuals shipping items. Make the box as small as possible and weigh it. USPS offers a discount if you order and print the label online.
I shipped an outboard I sold on eBay once. DHL was the cheapest. Box it, weigh it, measure it and call around
It all depends on the box dimensions. You need to do a little research on box dimension and price at both UPS and FED x. you can run into some big unpleasant surprises. the difference in shipping a motorcycle windshield 300 miles was $60 cheaper to ship FED X over UPS. FED x had a standard box size that it would fit in. For UPS, the box was non-standard, which nearly tripled the cost.
What size and condition is the Jib? I currently have a 110, and am looking for something a little larger.
You might also check with the bus company's, like Greyhound. I've had sails shipped to me by Greyhound Bus before when there was a need to get them in a hurry and Fed-X was too $$. Recipient just goes to their local Bus depot to pick up.
