Hello,
New to Forum,,, first post.
Trying to research more into this wonderful sailboat.

Are Catalina still building the Capri 22?
Anyone know how many per month?
What hull numbers were built this year, 2015?
What's the last known one?

That should keep my powder dry for a bit. Thanks. :cool:

Welcome to the Forum.

I see a number of 2015 Capri 22's advertised on the Web right now. I also see a few 2016's for sale. As you may or may not know, the model year for boats runs from August 1 to July 31. Right now we are in the 2016 model year.

I can add one data point to your research.....but it is not 2015. Capri 22 hull #1258 was built and delivered in January 2012.

Once you round up all the statistics you are in search of, I suggest you share them with the group here. I am sure many folks would be interested in what you find out.

As a comparison Hull #1057 was delivered in January 2004... so not too many each year if you look at 201 in 8 years...

I will try to put together an excel spreadsheet of hull numbers, with associated build dates. (as suggested in an earlier post)
I'll write to Catalina and see if they can help.
In the meantime, can everyone here please post what year/hull number your C22 is, (if known) and I will capture it as we go. :cool:

You can tell the age of newer boats by looking at the HIN. HIN's came about in the early Seventies.

Similar to a car's VIN, the HIN is federally required and will tell you the date of maunufacture or certification as well as what model year it is. It also has a unique serial number as part of it. Tells you the manufacturer also.

Boat model years run from 1 August to 31 July the next year. 2016 models started in August 2015.

Model Year - 1988 (built in May 1988)
Hull Number - 281
Original name was "Princess" sailing out of New Haven CT area.
Current name is "Ophelia" sailing out of Winthrop MA.

Check under the name plate on the transom. I noticed it was an alternate location for the hull identification number.

I am the second owner.
Purchased her in Oct 2008 for $1225.00 on eBay.
She needed a typical end-of-season cleaning and the hard bottom antifouling removed.

Interesting they dropped the shoal keel... I suppose 2' of the shoal versus 2'6" of the wing wasn't enough of a reason to make 3 keels ongoing.

I owned # 297 and I am pretty sure it was a 1988. I now own #427 and it is a 1988.

I am the second owner of # 427.
It had the "Race Package" and the 1st. owner made me an offer I could not refuse.



Friend is on the helm.
