Sunbrella - is this overkill?

I just got a new Wagner portable spray painter and had a hair-brain idea. I have this huge 9'X9' bimini that stays open all season. Rather than treat it with typical pump spray dispensers, i.e. pump, pump, pump, how would loading up the spray tank and just pulling the trigger work? I think I could regulate it. It's made for paint, stains etc so sunbrella products should not hurt it. I might even be able to order the product in larger refill sizes. Is this crazy?

Probably want to do it by the crane with a NorthWest wind - overspray. Just sayin'

Use a foam roller and roll it on. No overspray and you can toss the foam roller.

After using the foam roller it is reusable but to be honest I got better results taking my canvas off and took home and spray in garage and spraying does better job coating sunbrella.

I took mine off and used a bug sprayer on my 9 x 9 bimini on the driveway. Worked great, even the driveway was water repellant for almost a year.

Here in Canada, Canadian Tire sells a canvas water repellent. I bought a large (almost paint can) size, 3.70 litres, Woods Silicone Waterproofing. $50 CDN, twice or more the volume of 303 for the same price (here).

We painted it on: mainsail cover, cockpit covers, binnacle cover.

Even did a way old sun awning at home that leaked like a sieve until we did this.

Works great.

I think I may roll it. I can use a long handle to get the center. It woild have been wiser to do it before I mounted it, but I'll need to do it again later in the season anyway.

I think spraying from the bottle of 303 or what ever you use is better coverage than using the roller

You'd have to double check, but IIRC the sunbrella website says to remove dirt (before reapplication of waterproofing) with gentle brushing only.

Hire a marina teenager to do the cleaning and spraying.;)

Drink adult beverages in the shade, as a Captain should.:p

Then go sailing...
