Have any of you had to replace the aft water tank on a H34 (mine is 1983). The tank is aluminum and it has these nylon or poly straps that look to be installed with some sort of tool. Any thoughts on how to install new straps or an alternative arrangement for holding the tank in place?

Hold down straps are abundantly available at most hardware stores . I would that your standard nylon flat strap with the ratcheting buckle would do the job nicely.

Aluminum isn't recommended for waste holding but it's ok for fresh water tanks....and pretty common actually 'cuz there are almost always aluminum fabricators local to the builder, which not only makes 'em less expensive than rotomolded PE for builders to buy in volume, but the average lifespan is about 20 years, which is longer than most things on a boat.

That would be my choice too.

Same here, Mark.. nice heavy PE for both fresh water tanks, and the same for the fuel and holding tanks.. I've not seen a 34 with aluminum water tanks..
