My wife likes things bright and fresh and she thinks we should paint the interior of our Hunter 31 white. Not everything but enough to brighten it up. Has anyone done this and do you have pictures? Thanks

Isn't it sort of white already? Are you talking about painting the woodwork, or the gel-coat liner?

What year hunter do you have? White is great for showing dirt. Once you paint the wood you can't go back without huge effort. Maybe all you need are white currents and matching towels? :) I would also think of resale. Not too many people want a painted interior.

Just my thoughts.

What Dubo said.
If you do paint, any acrylic house paint will do. But don't.

Or maybe just light colored upholstery, and new mica on the counter-tops. I found pictures of these two different 1984s online.

Wood is warm. I agree that accent colors will help, especially on the cushions. If your budget doesn't cover replacement cushions, throw covers might do it, as well as pillows.

If you do ever paint it (not advised), follow Lynn & Larry Pardey's suggestion of tinting slightly with blue. It takes away the harsh white, and makes it easier on the eyes.

Before you paint (not advised), try sticking up some white paper for a while, see if you like it first before you commit.

2nd on the new Formica. We bought two sheets of a more updated look for table, galley and head to get away from the old peeling stuff and had a countertop guy moonlighting on the side do the install. IMO made a big difference
