Read a good book lately?

I typically begin my day at anchor near dawn with a cup of coffee and an hour or more of reading from books like these. A very relaxing activity. I see several new potentials from these exchanges!

I think it is an age thing. Waking at an early hour... not able to go back to sleep... picking up a book. Sometimes it is coffee supported, often the book can just cause you to turn the pages... Before you know it you have consumed an hour or more.
I am looking forward to exploring the books suggested. Keep them coming. I have a few more sleepless hours to occupy...

One of the few physical benefits of aging for some is being able to rise early, as you say, and not even feel sleepy most of the time. This works well for cruisers who want to get underway (and arrive at destination) EARLY! In my youth I would never have imagined myself up, awake, and reading a book as the sun is rising.

Ah, yout...:) Did it just this morning. 0400, lit the lamp, read, grapefruit, followed by pancakes, and all of a sudden I found myself cleaning the darned dodger! There is altogether too much made of the "early bird gets the worm." All it means is a longer day to work, darned it. I'm goin' back to bed...:)

Makes perfect sense; twilight this morning for you was near 0430; nautical twilight near 0330. Boating activity works best on the "natural" diel rhythm IMHO. Hit the rack near 2130. Plenty of sleep-time, potentially, for the codgers.;) Of course, winter makes it harder to follow such a rhythm.

I stayed at a little B &B in Grand Haven, Michigan and found a book in their little library called "Wood on the bottom", a collection of stories about shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. Some very interesting history.

Check out Breaking Waves, by Glen Damato. Very funny, and well written. I didn't put it down until I finished the last page.
