It's official! The 2017 O'day owners' rOnDAYvous will be held the weekend of July 14-16 at Milford Lisman Landing Marina in Milford, CT. If you've never been to the rOnDAYvous -- and this is our 15th annual event -- you owe it to yourself to find out firsthand what all the hoopla is about. Don't hesitate to post a reply or hit me up with a PM to get details.

If you've been to the big gathering in the past, I hope to see you again at Milford.

Oh, c'mon folks! You know your curiosity is getting the better of you. Let's see how many newbies we can get to attend the big 2017 rOnDAYvous. Don't leave a serious gap in your summer sailing plans!

I'm not an oDay owner, but that's a great pick for a marina. Reasonable dock rates, clean rest room and shower. Plenty of restaurants and bars , ice cream and coffee shops in walking distance. Many have outdoor seating options.
Have a great time - all!

Pete,
How many people have signed up? Are there more details available? Trying to get the Admiral to sign on!

Just called the marina -- 12 boats have reserved a slip so far. And I suspect there are a few others who are procrastinating but will be there. We also expect a handful of drive-ups, as per usual. Send me a PM with your e-mail address, and I'll send you a newsletter with some details. Hope to see you there.

If it'll help you with the decision, why not meet up for a flotilla to Milford. I'm in Great Kills Harbor, S.I., and I'm planning a 2-day run there. You could make it from Ocean Gate to my location in an easy day.

Come to Milford and join us this weekend!!

For those of you attending the rOnDAYvous this weekend, here's a rough outline of what to expect. First, Peter will not have his 322 with him, but we hope he drives up as it's just not a rOnDAYvous without him.

Most folks arrive Friday, and time after 11-12ish, and start getting re-acquainted. Beer etc may start flowing.. Sometime around 5:00 plus, it's our world famous O'Day Pot-Luck Supper! We'll gather wherever we can, either amongst the boats, or in an area I hear has a bunch of picnic tables. To me this is the best part of the weekend. Bring an app, a main course, desert, whatever you want. Just make a little extra to share. I know brother Roy will have his amazing apricot pulled pork, Kathy and Peter L will have fantastic chili, and I'll have my pretty damn good baby-backs and some delicous fruit salad. Patrick John swears he'll have plenty of his world famous, freakin should be illegal rum cake!!!
I have a small propane grill that's available after I heat my ribs, plus many of us have stoves and ovens on board if anyone needs them. Then we just sit around, lie, and most likely drink copious amounts of rum.

Saturday we do whatever.. sleep late, get up early, whatever you want. Mingle, and check out all the wonderful boats. Maybe do a repair or small project, etc. Plan on Saturday breakfast and lunch on your own, or with any of us! Some of us are trying to fill in for Pete and organize a catered dinner for Saturday. We'll either gather at a nearby restaurant, or eat at the picnic tables I mentioned before. We're hoping for the picnic tables.

Sunday people stumble out of their boats, socialize a little more, and head out. Chat it up, and maybe you'll have company if you're planning a little post-rOnDAYvous cruise.

Pete told me that summer Santa may make an apperarance, even though he's still recovering from Christmas! if you have small children with you, or big people that act like children, let Pete know ASAP else there may be just coal.

The main goal of the weekend is to reconnect with once a year friends, create new ones, look at boats, dream of new ideas, and have lots and lots of laughs. If wx cooperates and folks are interested, we could go for a sail as well!
Looking forward to seeing those of you I've already met, and meeting new friends as well!
