I'm going to guess that it is a remote control for lighting or some other similar function. There seems to be black and red 12v power, a black antenna cable, and two yellows which would be either side of a switch. Power to one yellow and device to the other. Just a thought. Is there a fob any where?

The red yellow and black wires suggest that it is a Raymarine seatalk something. The black wire suggests an antenna. I'm thinking AIS receiver. Take the unit off the bulkhead and check the back or an identification.

My guess: Wireless remote control for the autopilot. There must be a remote somewhere.

Where do the wires go? It will give you a clue to what is being operated or controlled.

If you remember Vonnegut didn't get paid in Back to School because he didn't get an A on a test about his own material.
