I'm in Barcelona tonight. This MONSTER has RED showing at the mast tops. High buck pro captain leave his nav lights on? Or is there more to it??

When that same (I think) boat was on the west coast, in Marina del Rey, I was told it was aircraft warning lights like you see on high-rises and towers. Makes sense.

There's more than one of them. I was at a hotel on a cliff that looked out at the Med, at San Pietro, Italy, last year. There were two such boats down below, one with a swimming pool amidships. Googled, and found it was 298 feet.

Yeah, but he couldn't afford the per-foot dock price, so he backed in to save footage and money. Actually, the red anchor light IS just like radio towers: 149 feet or more, and need the red.

I like that traveler at the top of the after mast. The lights keep the other boats helicopters from impaling themselves.

For sure it's aircraft lights. I just think it's kind of fun to think about little airplanes getting tangled up in your rigging. ;-)

Now I'm wondering... What would be the name of the upside down jib with sheets to the mizzen top? Just in case I need to crew on this boat I want to furl the proper sail when the captain calls for it.

You can't tell from the angle of my picture, but the main mast is easily 30 feet taller than the mizzen.

Oh, Med-moor is de-rigor here, and these maxi-yachts force the issue. They all come in stern-to, and have powered passerelles to manage the enbarkment.

Barcelona is approximately the latitude of of maybe Albany NY. I lived in Albany for 4 years. I gotta think Barcelona is 'mo better in a climatical sense.
Not that we're complaining in the NY area. 70 degrees lately. I may drag a boat out and start sanding something soon.

Hmmmmm. is that in-mast furlers ?? ;)
It's on a furler but not in-mast. You can see the furling stay(?) running from the deck just forward of the mizzen mast to the upper part of the main mast.
I guess it sheets to the mizzen mast. The whole idea is to get sail area up high for light air.

That's a separate staysail? Check the pic from Superyachts and you can see it between the masts.
