Any suggestions on the type of material for inside the cushion.

I bought mine through the Hunter Owners Store (on this site) for my then new 2006 Hunter 45 Cc, have had them for 10 years, and they are as good as the day I bought them.

The "hard white foam" I believed you mentioned is probably closed cell foam. It has two big benefits: it doesn't absorb water- which means the cushion dries out quickly. And it's more stable when you walk on it. We have a Passage 42 (love it) and find ourselves stepping on the cushions often, whether at the dock or at sea. We've added the folding cockpit seats you can buy at West Marine for more comfort in the cockpit. Highly recommend those- and they sit right on top of the cockpit cushion.
You have a good point on stepping on the cushion ... Prob is under sail anything you put on cushions slides off. I am going to see what mastercraft uses in their wakeboard boats. We walk on those all the time and they dry out quickly.
We use non-skid shelf and drawer liners from just about any hardware or home supply store. They come in long rolls, and we cut them to sit under the entire cushion. We use them underneath our jerry cans (secured to the lifelines) as well. They're quite inexpensive, and we replace them every year or so.
