How stupid could I possibly be?

Well, glad this wasn't on my boat, but stupid is what stupid did.

Thursday (9/8) my car tells me to refill the windshield washer fluid. Friday (9/9) I grab the water bottle that I keep the windshield washer fluid, pour it in and all is good. Heading to work I noticed that my windshield needed a cleaning. So clean I did.

One squirt, two squirt, and what the heck... the windshield is smearded with something. What the heck. Then it dawned on me. The fluid in the bottle was radiator coolant, not windshield wiper fluid, which was the same color and consistency. Stupid me.

So today I drained the reservoir and flushed it out with fresh water, twice. Now to go and get some REAL washer fluid.

Silly me. :(

Same here.. but other way; Wife's Honda radiator fill is in same location and same appearance as windshield washer fill on my other car.. soooo.. the washer fluid went into the radiator fill.. I realized it as I was putting the cap back on.. felt really dumb all the time I was doing the drain/flush/refill of the radiator.

Don't ask about the time I told my wife she needed to go back to jiffy lube because they put the wrong blinker fluid in.

Not as stupid as when I let the main halyard and topping lift go because I had to lower the boom to unsnag a lazy mate fouled in the topping lift line. Well, I didn't tie off the halyard and topping lift ends, so when I turned around they were blowing out to leeward in 15 knots.
No matter which way I turned or what I did, they were always blowing to leeward.
Had to start the motor and chase the lines, with the wife on the bow trying to snag them.
Like a donkey chasing a carrot.

Always tie off loose ends, I says.

I'm innocent here, but my neighbor was trying to start his gas lawnmower one day, sweating profusely after many, many pulls on the cord. So I go over to help him out, opened the gas can that he used to fill his mower tank and I says to him, this is diesel fuel. That gave us both a big laugh for the day.

I guess it's confession time...
My car rad was low one day so I grabbed the 1 liter bottle of antifreeze that was on the shelf, topped up the rad, as I was throwing the bottle into the garbage I noticed the words '2 stroke oil'!! Same colour green (that's my excuse).
Never had a problem with rust in the cooling system.....

Cheers

Ah, don't feel bad. I am on my way out to the barn to change the air in my tires. Isn't that due every 100,000 miles? And my muffler bearing are making noise too...

I have heard, only heard mind you, that it is possible to put diesel in the waste port. Only heard though, could never happen to me. Motor wouldn't run for shit.

Getting the different colored caps for the deck fittings was a great idea to help prevent that.

So, during World War II sailors began referring to Marines as Jarheads. Presumably the high collar on the Marine Dress Blues uniform made a Marine's head look like it was sticking out of the top of a Mason jar. Marines were not insulted. Instead, they embraced the new moniker as a term of utmost respect
