Yeah! I remember the first time, many, many years ago when I first put my hand on a tiller. It was magical. :)

My normal lake is only 400 acre long and narrow, Sandusky bay to me is like sailing the ocean, when I screw up I have hours to figure it out, to whereas my like 5 min, big difference what a joy! Now if I can just stop screwing up it'll be a dream:banghead:

We learn from our mistakes.

To reach a port we must sail, sometimes with the wind, and sometimes against it. But we must not drift or lie at anchor.

I know Cedar Point, us Ohio people are everywhere. My first sail trip hurt but before I left I grabbed a couple people from the park and they saved me pretty good. I'm still green and afraid of Sea Monsters but I'm from Ohio and that will no way stop me from sailing period. ⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓, just go for it safe like. Big Grin

Your a Captain now with or without paperwork, your completely in charge of your boat and everything on it, your crew comes first at all cost. Your responsible is your responsibility. Be safe first. And did you know that the Edmunds Fitzgerald sank about 200 miles strait north of you ? Gordon Lightfoot song, it's a true story. ⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓

Quit banging your head against that damn wall. We all screw up at times. As long as nothing gets broken, no one gets hurt, and a lesson is learned, all is good. Go live your dream.

Yep, What Roland said!

It's always the unknown that gets me, I'm literally starting from nothing but a few books and you tube, I know nobody that sails I've never been on a sailboat, it's tuff to learn something from nothing, but I like it:)

My first real trip I got stuck under the Sky Way bridge area, no engine, no wind, love bugs trying to suffocate me, 4 days last Christmas. I learned a lot, a real lot. Everything that could go wrong did except sinking and remember fiberglass floats. Stay in touch, we love boat stories. ⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓

Screwing up teaches you valuable lessons. I once launched my 21 footer, sailed under bare poles to my slip and executed a 90° turn into my slip that killed all my momentum and tied up my boat. It would have been a lot less stressful if I had attached the fuel line to fuel tank so that the motor would run. o_O

Congratulations. Even screwing up is fun! I know. I do it at least once a week!
