Last nite during the 4th, one of the marina neighbors un furled his head sail and showed the movie Independence Day via some type of projection TV. I thought it was a clever idea and very entertaining.
Something I haven't seen before.

I have one of those projectors for my Masters classes. It's the same system they use in theaters now days, just theirs are bigger and more powerful. I've used mine for events like that too.

It would be illegal to charge for it, unless you paid licensing to the studio. There's a naval museum here that got in trouble a few years back for showing movies on deck and charging for it.

Clever. Must have been a calm night ;)
We saw the new one this weekend. We both thought it was pretty good. Some character development. Lots of action. Hard to believe it has been 20 years since the first one! :yikes:

Our club has a movie night every year, Captain Ron is a perennial favorite. We stretch a custom made square sail between two boats using their spinnaker halyards across the end of the dock, setup a sound system and projector all powered by a generator (no power on the docks) and invite everyone to come view. If you watch from shore or dock you see the movie normal, if you watch from the water its reversed but, either way you its a fun way to spend a summer evening.
