I want to attach a cheek block at the base of my mast to lead my topping lift (Dutchman) line back to the cockpit. I find several but the description comment makes me wonder if they have too much curvature for a mast. Maybe I can use a flat base block?
"Unique curved base plate fits up to 2" (51mm) diameter spar section for easy mounting."
They have both at downwind marine

A cheek block would require a very precise and accurate lead back to the cockpit. That is why the preferred solution is a block on a swivel clipped to a padeye, it will rotate into a good lead.

I agree.... deck mounted. but all deck mounted blocks need a backing plate

Don't you have deck mast base plate with a series of holes in it? Shackle there.

Could you switch one of those blocks for a double?

Most of the mast steps I'm familiar with have holes for 4-6 turning blocks on each side. Are there some unused holes between the blocks you show in your photo? Perhaps you just need to purchase some additional studs?
