jim buoy horsehoe buoys

hi all, does anyone have any experience in painting these.. I would like to freshen up and letter them. Red

Yes. Ten years ago, I painted my horseshoe with Krylon plastic paint. I did it in white. Touched up once. I'm satisfied with the result. I also changed the line. I put floating line on it. Don't remember what it had before. I also painted the MOB pole since the fiberglass was starting to shed. I think I used a white mono-poxy. It has held up well and no more glass splinters. Our old one was dying. We got a new one. My wife got smart: "If we're not using it, like when we're not there and you're singlehanding, why not just leave it down below?"

It's lasted twice as long as our old one and still looks new.

west marine sells new covers for the jim buoy horseshoes.... and new bags for those with old crispy lifesling bags...

you can probably find them on the internet as well.

paint will hide the old color, but it wont make the cover soft again, or UN sun rot the material... and the stitching could fall apart when its need most, so do an inspection of it before just trying to make it look good, because functional is more important than looks...
