Rainmaker never recovered by Gunboat?

I read in an article in Sail magazine that Rainmaker, the Gunboat 55, abandoned off NC last year was eventually sighted several times and eventually recovered off Bermuda.
I had heard at the time of its loss that Gunboat said it would recover it and repair it for the owner.
I wonder if they attempted to recover it? Anyone know more?

The hull was recently found adrift. I think off Africa. A total loss.

Hull survived, and was eventually towed into Bermuda, but nothing else on the boat survived. Nearly everything was torn free after two years of North Atlantic storms.. Oh and apparently the Mastervolt LiFePO4 battery did not explode and burn the boat down by being doused & submerged in salt water, as some suggest will happen......

I cannot imagine Gunboat not being to find this vessel. I think they must not have wanted to, or they were directed to not find it, so it could be written off.

And do what with it? In the middle of the ocean? Its 55 feet long and 20 feet wide. A salvage operation to bring back a wreck? Sink it.

It was really not Gunboats to go and get because it had been sold. Would Marlow-Hunter go get one of its boats that had already been sold? The insurance company or the owner are the rightful owners or a salvage company if they had come across it first. It's long since dead now....

I understand, but Gunboat had originally said they would retrieve the boat and fix it. I think maybe they wanted to avoid bad press, but considering they were apparently close to bankruptcy at the time... They may have thought better of such a costly venture. Now it does not matter, as Gunboat has been sold off cheap to avoid bankruptcy auction. Game over.
