We take possession of our "new to us" Catalina 380 tomorrow. This weekend we will travel to San Diego to spend the weekend cleaning and starting the process of working through the punch list and getting it ready to sail back to San Pedro. I'll have to change my profile here as well. If anyone is interested in my Catalina 30, it's for sale.

Six foot-itus got you good! That's a great feeling, how much do you want for the Cat 30 and what year is it? I'm in SC and couldn't buy it but I'm curious!

The 30 has a lot of features and I took my time getting it all put together right. I'm asking 25K. It has a really neat fold down table cabinet, a 25 HP M4-30 Universal, I moved the engine panel up to the coaming like later models. The electric system has been upgraded to include 2 - 6 VDC golf cart batteries and a separate starter battery. I finished installing a hot water heater last year, and a refrigerator that I installed next to the nav table in the quarter berth. The interior was spiffed up with paint and varnish and she has new top side paint. I realize I won't get back what I put into it, but that isn't why I did it anyway. She is a turnkey boat though. I almost hate to sell it now. I am looking forward to the new boat even if she needs some TLC.

Kimelmore, my ciphering skills are no so good! Eight-foot-itus would have been more correct! Haha! How about some pictures? A Cat 380 is a thing of beauty, what year model? I'd love to hear more of your adventures and sail back to San Pedro too. I just agreed to buy a "plug" 1977 model Cat 30 and we're closing the deal on Monday so I will have no extra time nor money, but love reading the story of your good fortune!

A Cat 36 interior, but with better head location and an absolutely fantastic aft stateroom; probably the best in this size and category.
Also good sailing, strong and stable boat for dream worthy coastal cruising.

I'll post some photos of the 30 and the 380 next week. We are spending the weekend with the 380 and after a good stem to stern cleaning we will load up some dry goods and then pop the BBQ on the stern pulpit and grill up some steaks while the Captain enjoys a few 12 oz refreshments.

Ah, the life of a good sailor and his wife! Kimelmore, we are all envious of your good fortune. A few pictures would turn some of us green(in deference to Kermit)! We may all be "strangers", but we've got that common thread of loving time spent on the water. A sailboat is a thing of beauty and once the sailing "bug" bites you, you simply live with the sting! Oh, almost forgot, have a beer for us because we'll be celebrating with you from afar!

I got the ok from the admiral to move up. Tough decision because I've grown to love my 30. I know her inside out and have done so many upgrades. I hate the idea of starting over on a new boat. That seems like a huge jump a little daunting. Seems like boats are selling as the used inventory in the NE isn't what it was a few years ago. Good luck and congrats!

If you do an advanced search using Bob's screen name, you'll find he did a lot of things, with the electrical system being a big part. I was glad to help. What he learned will help him BIG TIME on his next boat, whatever it may be.

Yahoo! We got to the boat Saturday and started cleaning from bow to stern. We were surprised at how clean it was in spite of it's 20 years of service. The wonderful ladies at the marina office confirmed that the previous owner had hired professional help to clean the boat before leaving town. The Adler Barbour cold plate isn't working but I have a Fridge specialist coming to find out if there are any major leaks and service the Freon. I've already replaced the vanity sink faucet in the vee berth and bought a matching one for the head aft. The macerator problem was exactly as I thought. Someone twisted the power and ground wires together and taped them up with electrical tape. I installed a terminal block and terminals with heat shrink and it worked as advertised. I guess I can return the macerator pump I bought just in case. I also finally got to check the lights. It's something the surveyor missed. I'll have to climb the mast to repair the deck and steaming light and then put a new bulb in the Port nav light. I'll try to find LED bulbs. Any idea where to look?I found that the worker who installed the new steering quadrant on the rudder post didn't install the rudder stop. The bolts appeared to be too big so rather than go get the right size he just left it off. Oh well
