On the Catalina 30 TR, is the bow sprit long enough that whisker stays would add any benefit? Thx!

Well not practical; there is nothing practical about them. If a boat needed them it would be a STRUCTURAL benefit, but because I've not seen a ton of C30s with torn-off bowsprits, I'm assuming Catalina was OK leaving them off. The loads are handled fine by the bobstay.
