Different topic, but o now set 50# as my limit for lifting things. The back is just to important to damage by lifting heavy weights. That's what levers and hoists are for.
Couldn't agree more. This machine I live in has been humming along nicely for 65 years. No meds at all. Last week an MRI revealed a herniated lumbar disc pushing on a nerve complicated by a loose bone fragment. Maybe surgery. I hope not. Hoping for, though, at least another 35+ years of sailing. Don't take anything for granted.

Scott,

I'd make a few calls to the visited job sites and see if it's going around. Sounds like it could be a reaction to inhaling some sort of toxicity. Somebody may have been mixing the bleach with the ammonia, so to speak. At any rate., glad you're still looking at grass from the top side.

Glad you're better Scott
Speaking of toxicity, We eliminated all of the chemicals we could after my cancer scare a few years back. We got so in to green and natural home products that my wife has partnered with a company that has been doing it best for decades. She wants to be able to help her friends live healthier too.

Speaking of vaccines, don't skip the one for Shingles. I got a case of shingles about five years ago and though it was not a serious case it was no fun at all. I would not wish that on anyone.

You got that right, don't take anything for granted.
I'm going in Monday for two herniated discs that are pushing on the nerves so badly that I haven't been able to feel my left leg for 4 weeks now. Looks like boating is out the question for me this year.

Scott, Glad your on your way to feeling better. There have been some nasty bugs going through my work. At the first sign I saw my doc who gave me a C-Pack. That and rest seemed to keep it from catching hold.
Took the cover off the boat Easter weekend. Yours seems to be holding up OK. Hoping for a mid-May splash this year. Get better soon.

Anyone else notice that pneumonia was what took Merle Haggard? What four or five stints in the sneezer, and a lifetime of hard living could not do, pneumonia did. Life is out to get ya!

We all have expiration dates. The trick is to not get to them too fast.

I need to tie Richie down for scheduling my bottom work. He said he sent a proposal. I'd like to get him started this month so we're ready to go about the same time as you. He seems to fill his time pretty efficiently, so I'm hoping I'm not at the end of a long list!

Please don't answer if you don't want to but have you had the pneumonia vaccine?
The standard recommendation is over 60 but there are exceptions.

I had similar antibiotic needs, guess what? The gave me a old one and it worked! they are now rotating backwards.
Take care!!!

Scott,
Glad to hear that you were wise and sought medical treatment. Just take it easy and relax which is the hardest thing to do letting others to take care of your boat. Bad Obsession, I agree with you. I have always said live life to the fullest and keep fighting every day to enjoy life like Jim Seamans, JAVA, did so he could enjoy life with Joan and sailing. Folks, if you think you need medical attention no matter how old, seek it quickly instead of being macho. I am glad I did with a belly ache on a Sunday morning in 1968 which ended up to be a ruptured bowel.

One more; If you think only women get breast cancer, I'm (still) here to tell you different. Per incidence of breast cancer it kills more men than women because men don't believe they have it, and don't seek medical evaluation. Men don't have much in the way of breast tissue so you will looking for lumps and disfigurations of the nipple area. Don't let it go, once breast cancer gets to stage 4 (metastasis) survival rates go way down.

Totally agree for the virtues of garlic and ginger.
Crush and slice fresh garlic. Let it stand for about 15 minutes for the formation of allicin, then add to a dish just before eating - allicin is unstable and doesn't resist the cooking.
Ginger tea:
- Peel and grate fresh ginger and turmeric. I use a spoon to peel.
- In a bowl poor 2/3 of soy milk, or almond or coconut milk.
- Add 1 spoon of grated Ginger and 1 spoon of grated Turmeric.
- Simmer for 10 min. or so, then strain.
- Then, add 1 teaspoon of honey.

I've had pneumonia twice, I am 58 years old, it is rare they give pneumonia shots under 60, even if you've had it!

I remind my wife often that life is short and uncertain....so we should eat desert first, and most definitely should buy a bigger boat NOW!
