2009 B37 shower bilge pump

Mine spits water up an inch or two, like a fountain, when I run it. Although it does pump away the water, it never completely drains so it is usually wet around the stainless steel opening to the floor drain.

Is that normal?

I don't see a filter anywhere on the line....however, on my previous boat, a 38s5, it had SHURflow twist-on water strainers on the shower bilges, just before the hoses enter the bilge pump.

Sorry you're correct; better described as a strainer. When ours gets gooped up with the normal shower goo nothing works right.

the Shurflow pump has a small strainer/filter at the pump intake. It a twist off with a small screen inside. Fairly easy to clog. You may want to check it.

No pump should spit water out of the intake. A diaphragm pump will if the intake valve seal is bad. and a centrifugal pump may on shutoff if the outflow line is restricted. Dismantle, inspect, clean, and replace failed parts in the pump, or just replace it.
