To any one in the New bern nc area. I am going to be moving to the area and was wondering what people use for bottom paint. I currently use West Marine PCS Gold.

Thanks for the help on advance

I am not sure if you plan to do this yourself but there are two souces who would know but depends if you are going to leave the boat in the water all the time noting you have an Oday 222. As a former North Carolina sailboat dealer for boats staying in the Neuse River, I applied Trinidad SR. Not sure whom you are dealing with but the folks in the area remember me as Crazy Dave. there are two I could direct you to which is Sailcraft Services at 252-249-0522 ask for Allen or Paul Well with Triton's Yacht at 252-249-2001. Both do good service and are reasonable.

I purchased our current boat in New Bern. It had been in the water unattended, no bottom cleaning, for 5 years. The bottom paint had been done 7 years previously. I was surprised at how good the bottom was. There was some barnicle growth but really not too bad. It had the Interlux Micron CSC.

Bridgeton Boatworks is a great yard right across the river from New Bern. They allow you to do your own work, they'll lend tools, advice, and help you. They also do quality work if you don't want to do it yourself.

I was planning on doing it myself if possible before I brought the boat south then it will be on a dock ajacent to my property.

Forgot about Brigeton Boat Works with either do it yourself or contracted out. GFreat folks but the way into the yard via water with a large boat, you have to be careful.

CD is correct, I draw 5'4", it's not a problem as long as the wind is from the North.

most do not know that the depth of thePamlico and Albermarle are affected by the wind, not regular tidal currents.
