Carpet liner

Thinking of removing the smelly carpet liner on my Oday 240, the headliner seams to be fine, but the sides doesn't pass the smell test. Any quick suggestions or ideas on how to refinish or simply eliminate the odor? (already replaced all the cushions)

Some people have used carpet cleaning machines to do the headliner. I think it's mostly successful as long as the adhesive doesn't give up. If you want to go the full monty, you can get the carpet headliner new from www.sailrite.com. They also sell a variety of spray on adhesives. They'll help you pick the best one if you call them.

Try washing with a carpet cleaner using a the upholstery attachment. Instead of the regular soap, use an anti-mildew formula.

In addition to using this chemistry on the boat, I've used it MANY times on flood carpets.

I use a product called Folex. It comes in a plastic spray bottle. I purchased mine from Home Depot but have also seen it at Ace. It cleaned the headliner stains on my 240 with virtually no scrubbing. My headliner didn't have an odor so I'm not sure if will eliminate that. I'm thinking that it may simply because it cleans so well.

I learned of this product when I had my recliner cleaned. The service man used the product and strongly recommended it for cleaning various fabric types.

I was able to remove the stains with a regular product but odours still persist in some areas.

Remember that the keys with anti-mildew formulas, in general, are....
1. Do not rinse it out. It is the residual that does the work.
2. Because of "1", do not over concentrate.

Finally, remember that many soaps are are actually mold food when they stay damp. That is a requirement of anything that is biodegradable, true? Formula B, for example, contains no organic ingredients, only salts, and thus "biodegradeable" does not apply.
