A friend asked us to help him prep his boat. We agreed, but he removed every bit of hardware from the deck! Every, single piece! No photos! No schematic! All parts in buckets! We're experienced - we sail a 48' ketch, hubby worked at Hinckley - but we're paralyzed without detailed photos of the deck hardware. Help!

Ha! I'd love to, but the sweet - if incompe, er, I mean "inexperienced" fellow had a stroke. All he wants is to sail the Maine coast this summer. We'll be taking him out. No way can he sail himself. We obviously love him.

Maybe check out the Hunter 31 photo gallery here to help sort things out.

Or post photos of each piece (maybe not all at one time) and let us help you in steps. What year is the boat?

That may be what we need to do. Ideally, we'd love to find one in a yard here in Maine, but no luck, yet. Time is of the essence, because our friend is OK now, but the risk of another stroke is high.

Are there no mounting holes that can help you match the bolting patterns of the hardware?

Call the factory and ask them for the deck plan for your boat.

Hi, folks. Thank you so much for your wonderful, helpful responses. I forgot to mention the boat is an '82. We now have hope! I'll keep you posted on our progress.

I have an '83. Mine was the first year of a new model, but I will be happy to post some pictures. I hope to get by the boat tomorrow.
