I'm going to be installing a diesel generator in my Hunter 410 in the next week of so. Just thought it might be worth asking if anyone has done this on a 410 of similar model and has any lessons learned to past along. I've taken the cover off the aft locker to get access to the normal installation location so I know the generator will pass right in.

I did it. I had to install a cooling fan for the electrical side of the generator as it kept tripping the breaker. But that has more to do with my generator, NextGen. Have other issues with the NextGen so I hope you purchased something else.

Had a Fisher Panda with factory enclosure installed in my 2002 410. They had to fasten a larger piece of plywood onto the factory mounting plate. Positioned under the removable panel in the starboard aft lazarette which helps with some access or to remove enclosure for access to entire unit.
Yes I was already thinking that needed an extra mounting plate. I was thinking to prefab that plate with bolt holes for the generator as I see it hard to get to the forward ones afterward.
For those that installed themselves, is that cable coiled behind the main electrical power panel a generator cable the factory put there "in case"?
Anyone know if the standard generator shelf in a Hunter 410 has a metal backing insert glassed into it?
After drilling into it now I would say the answer is no there is no AL plate in that shelf.
In case some Hunter 410 owner comes across while installing a generator I'll pass along a tip:
- Before you mount the generator find and pull the big while 3-wire cable that Hunter ran during building out from under the mounting shelf so that you can get it later.
