Thru hull transducer on a Hunter 26

Rich, have you thought about an in hull unit so that you don't have to drill a hole? There are some great units that also can be angled if required.

That's backwards. Rick had it right. The term relates to notion of a hole being needed 'thru the hull', and not the specify ability of the sender to work without a hole.

My H260 has two through hull transducers. One is for depth the other for speed and water temperature. As seen in the picture, they are located under the aft berth beside the bilge pump. I am not sure but believe this spot is also available at the H26.

Dave and I installed a shoot-through-the-hull transducer because I didn't want to put a hole in a perfectly leak-free hull. We used plumber's putty to hold it down. Works like a champ. Oh, the transducer is designed to be hung from the transom and not puttied into the hull. But it still works just fine.

I spoke to Rich this evening advising to look at Regular Guy's photo but suggested to place the transducer perpendicular to the blue box and bilge pump. The blue box is a float switch. The boat is being moved to San Diego. He was thinking of a three in one transducer. I suggested if he wants a thru hull to install it for the depth only and purchase a GPS that will give him speed over distance as you cannot paint the speed impeller on a knot meter unless things have changed since leaving the industry. I told him about the Plumbers putty which I helped install on Kermit's boat suggesting to Rich that he contact Kermit for a photo of that. The hull section is the same for the 26 as with the 260
