Can someone on this forum supply me a list of the Cherubini Hunters in the 32' and under range? TIA

Under 32'?. That would be 30' , 27' and 25'. There are also 33' , 36' & 37' as far as I know.

The h30(73-83), h27 (74-84)and h25 (72-83). There was no 32' but there was a 33 (77-82?)

Here is an old Hunter brochure (ca.. 1982) that shows the 'Cherubini line'. Its interesting to note that, according to John Cherubini II, his dad didn't really consider the H36 one of his designs per se. It is, in fact, a 'stretched' H33 that Hunter created in-house. But since it is derived from the Cherubini-designed 33, it is definitely a kissing cousin!

Thanks, Jim. That is helpful. I've been thinking I should include Hunters in my new to me boat search. But I want this boat to be in the 27 to 30 area. There are some on Yachtworld. I need to go back and take a closer look.

Thanks Jim, of all the documentation we have passed around these many years I never saw that brochure. So the 19 and 22 were not Cherubinis. But of course the 54 is.

Shemandr,
There are always a few Cherubini Hunters listed in the classified ads on this site. There are a couple 30's there right now. The best ones go fast, so keep an eye on it.

Haven't sailed the 27 but love my 30. Fast, comfortable, and seakindly. Have had her almost 19 years. There are a couple specific design flaws that may need to be addressed, however. One being the compression post and I beam. Check the archives as this subject has been discussed many times. I just had my I beam replaced and will be posting before and after pics soon.

Ed - I don't remember where I found that 1982 brochure...but I am glad you enjoyed it.

John Cherubini did only a dozen production sailboat designs (he died too young, at the age of 62). The Hunters designed by Cherubini were the 25, 27, 30, 33, 36, 37 & 54.

The 27 and 30 are both darlings of their original and subsequent owners. It seems no one on this site is every displeased with either of them. I know of several in NJ that may be available, if you're interested in taking the ride down here. I can put you in touch with the yard owners if you like.

The other great design of my dad's is the Raider 33 (actually 33'7"), which is not related to any Hunter except that it uses the same keel, in the shoal-draft form, and the same mainsail, in the short-rig form. These are very rare but very beautiful, what I have called the 'holy grail' of affordable curiser-racers of the vintage. Build quality was spottier than at Hunter but every single one of these (29) boats is worth restoring no matter what it takes. If the Hunter is a Chevrolet Bel Air, the Raider is the AC Cobra. You don't spare anything in restoring one, just because of what it represents.

Yeah, PM me the info if you don't want to post it. Probably won't make a visit until spring, whatever that means in the NE. I might as well learn what's out there.

Roland, that compression-post arrangement is one of them things I've ranted about for years. I posted a 'word-to-the-wise' about it in my blog. I can assure you that the way it is is not one of my or my dad's inventions!
