A lightweight electric pressure washer. I don't like dragging the gasoline monster down to the boat.

A big surprise gift this summer was purchasing the boat! First time sailboat owners. Family and friends gave us all manner of things this year with both of our birthdays being in December as well. Two Luci solar powered lanterns, 2 knives - 1) Buck 2) Rigging knife, Skipper & First Mate hats, boat mugs, induction burner, solar panel, tablet. We were overwhelmed with everyone's thoughtfulness and generosity!

I got a healthy bonus at work, I am trying to figure out what I want to get (need) for the boat. I need a VHF, cockpit lifelines and a porta potti, I want to redo the interior cushions and cockpit cushions but those wants are expensive.

My boss gave me his old Raymarine C80 off of his boat as he upgraded to something newer. He also included a DSM300 Depth/Fishfinder along with the bronze depth speed temp transducer and speed fairing, but the installer who swapped it out cut that cable about a foot from the Transducer. So yes a gift for the boat, but more work involved. LOL

My sister gave me a boat shirt with the Stargazer's name on it.

I've been trying to figure out how I would accomplish that on our boat. Do the cars need to be bearin
Tasty. One of the worlds best sailboat mods. EVERYONE should have remotely adjustable genoa cars. Everyone. Its like having a traveler for your headsail.
I've been trying to figure out how to accomplish that on our boat.
Do the jib cars need to have bearings or can out old ones be re-used?
I bought that dang "Sail Trim User's Guide" and it might get expensive.

My plan is to use the existing cars and rig the pin to always be "up" so that they slide. This should work but, you know how sailboats are. Really don't wan to spring for new cars as that gets spendy fast. The total cost for the hardware was about $125 from Vella.

Kinda depends on your track and cars. Most Pin-locked cars will not have a low friction surface or bearings to roll on. And they typically will not have tow-rings to pull the cars forward, but that can easily be mod-ed in most cases.

Assuming you can make them tow-able and can lock up or remove the pin like CB32863 is doing, you're kinda set. There might be extra friction but its a small price to pay for immediate (and infinite!) adjustment. Or you can go all-in and replace you cars (and maybe your track).

FYI - the tow lines pull the cars forward. Angled pressure on the sheets help pull them back; kind of. Many boats will a shock-cord based system to help pull them back.

A new U.S. yacht ensign, a new Dremel 4000 set, and a UE Boom 2 Bluetooth speaker which I am enjoying in the shower til it migrates to the boat this spring.

I finally got around to using the gift certificate for Defender my brother had given me (for my birthday a month prior, but hey, it's Christmas time NOW, so.. ) and got myself an auto-inflatable PFD vest.
