I've been trying to figure out how I would accomplish that on our boat. Do the cars need to be bearinI got a healthy bonus at work, I am trying to figure out what I want to get (need) for the boat. I need a VHF, cockpit lifelines and a porta potti, I want to redo the interior cushions and cockpit cushions but those wants are expensive.

My plan is to use the existing cars and rig the pin to always be "up" so that they slide. This should work but, you know how sailboats are. Really don't wan to spring for new cars as that gets spendy fast. The total cost for the hardware was about $125 from Vella.I've been trying to figure out how to accomplish that on our boat.
Do the jib cars need to have bearings or can out old ones be re-used?
I bought that dang "Sail Trim User's Guide" and it might get expensive.

Kinda depends on your track and cars. Most Pin-locked cars will not have a low friction surface or bearings to roll on. And they typically will not have tow-rings to pull the cars forward, but that can easily be mod-ed in most cases.I've been trying to figure out how I would accomplish that on our boat.
